The Philly Funny Guide - M@& Comedy Improv from (Possibly) You

Improv. Yeah, I know, you've seen Whose Line Is It Anyway? and you think all that Ryan Stiles and Wayne Brady stuff is pretty much played.

Plus you got dragged to your buddy's college improv performance, and the only thing that made it tolerable was that you were drunk. Well, there's a much better place to get loaded and see quality, spontaneous comedy.

Yours truly was deep in the improv sh*t for over a decade and one of the funniest guys in the improv biz is Matt Holmes.

Matt's got a don't-miss show on April 2nd at 8pm and April 9th at 9:30pm at the Shubin Theater you gotta see.

A member of the highly acclaimed Rare Bird Show (another improv group you should see), Matt's been performing and teaching improv probably longer than Michael Vick has been court-ordered to be nice to animals. Some of his previous shows include improvising in the dark and using mp3s in an improv show.

Check out this clip from Rare Bird Show. Only a hipster with a funny bone made of stone wouldn't laugh.

So this new show is called M@& (pronounced "Matt and") and stars Matt and one random person from the audience. There is no script and nothing is planned. Certainly the audience member won't have time to plan and that's the point.

Each show is different and no one knows what's going to happen. He might pick Osama Bin Laden right out of the audience and do a show. No one knows where he is, whose to say he's not eating a soft pretzel on South Street right now? This show could end the War on Terror. I'm not saying it will happen, but it might. Could you afford to miss that for only $10? I don't think so.
